Apprenticeship Grant Boost for Bradbury & Co Estate Agents

With spring in the air, residents of Low Fell, Gateshead and surrounding areas thinking of moving home have a new, vastly experienced team of estate agents to call upon.  Bradbury & Co, led by Maureen Bradbury with partners Jerod Moses and Amy Sixsmith have extensive knowledge of the housing market in senior positions with some of the UK’s largest estate agents.  In 2009 they decided to combine their expertise and opened an office in Low Fell.

Launching the business proved to be extremely demanding on the team and Maureen saw an opportunity to introduce a new trainee role responsible for sales administration but with initial expenses and overheads being hefty any additional wage costs needed to be justified.  Maureen was handed a life-line when she contacted ITEC and Business Development Consultant, Suzanne Evans suggested she apply for the Age 16-17 Grant.  Aimed at supporting small and medium sized businesses not normally in a position to recruit an apprentice, the £2,500 grant is in addition to the costs of training which are already met by the National Apprenticeship Service.

With a successful grant application, Suzanne submitted a selection of learner CV’s and following interviews 17 year old Danielle Kane was offered the position of Trainee Sales Administrator.  Danielle is helping to relieve pressure from the partners as her understanding of the business improves with faxing, invoicing and general correspondence.  In addition Danielle has helped colleagues out and about in the area with a leaflet drop and will help to assess its success.  Danielle’s work must reach the high standards of the Bradbury team and will provide evidence as she works on her Business & Administration Apprenticeship.

Danielle’s previous work experience waitressing in a Newcastle hotel ensured her new role wasn’t too daunting and now she’s looking forward to being really busy as the housing market improves.
