What Are Apprenticeships?

We’ve seen a significant growth in the popularity of Apprenticeships over the last decade - offering learners the brightest prospects, and employers a quality, loyal workforce.

People of all ages and backgrounds are choosing the Apprenticeship route to a successful future as they ‘learn while they earn’. Apprentices’ gain skills and nationally recognised qualifications – all created by employers – with a mixture of on and off-the-job training. For school leavers there’s no better way to kick-start your career or progress to higher education or university. Existing staff can also benefit from an Apprenticeship, recognising existing skills and learning new skills with training tailored to both the individual and their employer.

  • Join more than 240,000 Apprentices in England.
  • Over 130,000 businesses across England now offer Apprenticeships.
  • Apprentices earn on average, over £100k more in their lifetime than other employees.
  • Employers benefit from increased loyalty and productivity.
