Volker Stevin

Real respect, real responsibilities and colleagues who value your abilities, and at 18 years old, that is exactly what Lianne Bayroutieh has achieved working at Volker Stevin’s UK headquarters in Springwell, Gateshead.

Leaving school with good GCSE grades Lianne joined her friends at college but soon realised to fulfil her aspirations, and have a sense of real progression, employment was the answer.  An interview at Volker Stevin gave Lianne a chance to explain her desire and motivation to learn and succeed, resulting in employment as an Administrative Assistant.

Within two years, and with continuous support from Volker Stevin, Lianne has completed a Foundation and Advanced Apprenticeship in Business & Administration, followed now by an ITQ (IT User) qualification with learning provider ITEC North East.

Lianne’s colleagues benefit from her increased knowledge, and her IT skills in particular have proved very useful, as she is able to produce PowerPoint presentations for staff and spreadsheets to control, calculate and present data.  As the company continues to secure prestigious contracts, Lianne is sometimes called upon to work temporarily on site and helped out in the office on the New Tyne Tunnel project.  Brenda Langley, Lianne’s supervisor, explains that Lianne played a part in training the current Site Secretary on this project.
