Welcome to our website
Since re-launching our website in April 2006 we have been overwhelmed with the interest generated and the number of completed online application forms from young people in the region. Every online application is forwarded to our Client Liaison Officers who will contact everyone personally. Thanks also to a number of employers who have requested information on Apprentiiceships and potential candidates for employment vacancies.
Good news for Apprentices............££££££££££
Apprentices can expect to earn on average £4,000 more annually than non-Apprentices, new research has revealed.
A report 'Career Paths of Former Apprentices' published by the Learning and Skills Network, contains analysis from 30.5 million British people including employers and employees showing that students completing an Apprenticeship can expect to earn around £23,400 per year.
Jill Lanning, Director of Research with the LSN said, "People who complete an Apprenticeship can look forward to a lucrative career, good prospects of promotion and an ongoing commitment from their employer. Apprentices make loyal employees who understand the standards of work that their organisation expects. Employers value their Apprentices and give them plenty of opportunities to develop their skills."

Girl Power......................
Hylton Castle Primary School pupils are full of admiration and support for IT Technician, Sarah Morgan, whose enthusiasm for all things IT related is truly inspiring. At 20, Sarah's role in school is impressive, providing unrivalled support for teachers, systems and pupils, not forgetting the local authority.
At primary school Sarah's love was always IT, during secondary education at The Hermitage, Chester-le-Street, and night cloasses, she gained a GNVQ in IT, CLAIT and IBT2 followed by an IT Systems Support BTEC National Diploma at Derwentside College, Consett. However, when applying for IT Technician jobs, her lack of experience always counted against her. Various temping jobs followed but Sarah's true ambition wasn't deterred and finding ITEC North East on the web was her saviour. ITEC arranged an interview at Hylton Castle Primary, Sunderland, and a period of work experience resulted in an offer of employment allowing Sarah to embark upon an IT Practitioner Apprenticeship followed by her Advanced IT Professional Apprenticeship. Supported by school she is also studying for an MCSA qualification.
Appreciated by all concerned, Head Teacher, Elaine Armstrong, readily acknowledges Sarah's expertise, enthusiasm and confidence particularly her involvement in CC4G - Computer Clubs for Girls, an award winning national initiative capturing the imagination of girls, linked closely to areas of the national curriculum. Such is Sarah's success working two evenings a week with 15 girls, she is now running a further two evenings for the boys who are currently designing a theme park.

Kris is on the right road to dream job.....
For someone who's always been fascinated with lorries and logistics, landing a job with a haulage firm was a dream come true for Kris Carr.
As a child, he loved nothing better than playing with model wagons - imagining the challenges of long distance lorry driving. By the time he was in his teens he was helping out his late father who ran a courier business - organising paperwork and planning routes.
Although 18-year-old Kris, from Ferryhill, achieved good GSCE results, college just didn't suit and so he signed up with ITEC North East in Newton Aycliffe, where his skills and interests were assessed to determine what type of job would best suit. It was hardly surprising that the offer of a job as a Traffic Administrator with Ranger Transport seemed just perfect. And that's how it's proved to be as Kris has impressed his new bosses and embarked on an Apprenticeship in Business & Administration. He said: "I really enjoy the busy schedule and the challenge of finding loads for our wagons when they are heading back north after a drop. There is always something new to be doing or learning and while I have to have systems and routines, no two days are ever quite the same."
Company Secretary with Sedgefield based Ranger Transport, Kerrey Baker, readily acknowledges the part Kris is playing in the successful running of a fast moving, award winning haulage business. "Kris has the ability to prioriitise and multi-task as well as having a meticulous eye for detail, all of which are vital in his role." she said. "He has quickly developed a real understanding of the business, implementing new systems and contributing to our smooth day-to-day operations.
