ISAAC WON’T BE DEFEATED!

Apprenticeship distinction

ISAAC WON’T BE DEFEATED!

Isaac Murray, aged 21 began his Business Administration Level 3 Standards Apprenticeship programme on the 25th June 2019 at Hydraquip Hose and Hydraulics in Newton Aycliffe and has since achieved a ‘well-earned’ and ‘well-deserved’ DISTINCTION!

Isaac has been a ‘first-class’ student with ITEC in terms of his commitment, motivation and dedication in achieving his qualification.  Chris Douglas his Tutor commented that quite often Isaac would go over and beyond the expectations of the programme, in terms of completing assignments well before the hand-in dates.

Isaac has overcome many obstacles in his life and he puts this down to his positive mindset.   At the age of just nine-and-a-half months old, Isaac, unfortunately, fell ill to Meningococcal Septicaemia Meningitis resulting in him losing parts of all four limbs. Isaac has no digits and wears prosthetic legs. He has never perceived himself to have any barriers which stand in the way of his future and his philosophy is, ‘adapt and overcome’.

At the age of 17, Isaac enquired about taking driving lessons, however, he was unable to have lessons due to the manual hand brake.  Isaac did not let this stand in his way and pursued his goal until he found an instructor with a car that had an electric handbrake and a left-sided accelerator.

In terms of his future, Isaac is currently seeking employment associated with administrative roles.  In addition, Isaac’s long-term goal is to be a manager, so he is also considering embarking on one of our distance learning Team Leading course.  Furthermore, he is eagerly awaiting his new red and black Nissan Juke which will ‘open the door’ to more job opportunities and enable him to take his dog for a drive and go for walks (nice 21st BIRTHDAY present Isaac)!

I asked Isaac about his thoughts for anyone else wishing to embark on an apprenticeship programme with ITEC, and he recommended to ‘Go for it, you don’t know unless you try it!’  He also went on to say, ‘the tutors and staff at ITEC are very supportive and helpful.  You can speak to them easily if you are not sure about anything or if you need help to complete your assignment.’

This story reinforces the fact ITEC North East continues to support and enable outstanding achievement. We’re so happy one of our learners have come away with another distinction! If you want to be on a path towards a distinction visit here to apply for our latest apprenticeship vacancies.
