ITEC Learner Nominated for “Best Newcomer” at the North East Hotel Awards

ITEC North East are delighted to share the news that one of our learners has been nominated for the award of Best Newcomer at the North East Hotel Awards. Currently undergoing his Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship with Rockliffe Hall, Andrew Jennison has been a model apprentice. During his time with ITEC, Andrew has been nothing short of excellent. Constantly learning his trade with a smile on his face, he has taken everything in his stride.

Words from the workplace:

“Andrew is an asset to our team at Rockliffe Hall. From meeting him on his interview day, through to his first few days at work, to where he is now; his development has been astounding. He has always been very confident with his skills and knowledge of the job. As a person, Andrew has shone in a sea of over 300 staff at Rockliffe Hall. His professionalism, kindness, support and calmness he exudes is second to none. Over his time here he has been left alone to manage the day-to-day operations of the IT department and he has not shown any signs of stress or pressure but got on with the job in hand. Andrew always has a smile on his face. Even when you go with a problem Andrew’s response will be ‘I will come and help!’

He has helped enormously with the systems we have, as they are extremely challenging and ‘touch-and-go’ at times. Andrew will report problems immediately and provide updates as to which stage the reported issue is at. He then communicates effectively the diagnosis or support to fix the issue. It can be extremely easy to become stressed and frustrated when an IT issue arises. But Andrews professional support and guidance always helps the team.

A strong work ethic cannot be taught, in my opinion, you either have it or you don’t and Andrew should be extremely proud of all his achievements so far and continue on the path he has set of himself. I wish him all the successes in life, he is such a talented individual and deserves the very best!”

Words from his ITEC Tutor:

“Andrew has always been respectful, polite and approachable both to myself and through observations with other members of staff. He handles himself in a very professional manner and is an excellent ambassador for the busy and prestigious hotel.

Andrew completes actions set on his monthly action plans to an excellent standard and is an exemplary learner. He frequently emails work in between visits for feedback which is good working practice. I have noticed an incredible amount of improvement in Andrew. His current writing style has developed since the start of his apprenticeship to enable him to compose reflective accounts with robust, well-documented evidence referring to his working practices within the hotel. Andrew always strives to do his best and this is evident from the work he produces, he listens to feedback and always tries to continuously improve.

Having been nominated for “Team Member of the Month” by Rockliffe Hall in August 2018, Andrew is no stranger to accolades. To be recognised for his work really is something to be proud of. We are incredibly proud of Andrew’s achievements here at ITEC North East and we know Andrew will continue in his development and will divulge deeper into his role as an Infrastructure Technician. We wish Andrew all the best in the future.
