ITEC NE welcomed children from Reid Street Primary School in Darlington – a fantastic school which opened in 1912 serving the community in Darlington. Groups of 11 year olds attended our centre in Newton Aycliffe as part of their aspirations week. At ITEC NE we talked to the children about apprenticeships as a next step after school and college, showcasing the kinds of skills they would develop including fun using a green screen! The children completed two activities. The first was a communication task and the second producing a movie with the green screen equipment. The children were blown away with what they could do with the green screen, the props and computer equipment!

The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities and experience of being in a work place. Feedback has been fantastic with teachers hearing lots of positive things from the children and parents saying their children had not stopped talking about the trip! Joanne Davison, Vice Principal said “One child said it was the best day ever! So high praise indeed. They loved the goodie bags too!”.

At ITEC NE we deliver apprenticeship programmes and a whole range of provision to students aged 15+ located in the North East region. As a registered charity we are keen to support the community and would welcome any schools wishing to visit us as part of their careers and aspirations programmes.
